The Ford GT has become something of an icon among enthusiasts and drivers alike and with its limited return, thousands of drivers are pining for the latest model. With a limited production run, who gets the new 2017 Ford GT? As it turns out, the answer isn’t celebrities and sports stars, at least not to the extent one would imagine.
Many applicants to become the owners of a shiny new 2017 Ford GT were outraged when musician Deadmau5 and YouTuber Shmee150 were picked to get behind the wheel. Many tried and true Ford fans were disappointed to say the least. Fortunately, Raj Nair, Ford’s head of product development, put their minds at ease.
In an interview with @FordOnline, he revealed that 87% of the chosen applicants currently own a Ford vehicle while 69% owned a Ford GT from the previous generation. That’s not all he had to say though.
“We created a distribution strategy in an effort to be as fair as possible and are working on a plan that will allow us to make even more deserving applicants happy. Stay tuned,” Nair said.
Although the Ford GT’s production run is set to last just two years. Nair may very well be hinting that there’s more Ford GTs to come. As always, only time will tell!
