Ford to Sell Inflatable Seat Belt Technology

Inflatable Seat BeltDo you want your friends and family to be in the safest vehicle possible? Of course! Safety is always a concern that tops the priority list for auto manufacturers, dealerships, and consumers alike.

Ford has engineered the technology that will be the next big thing in passenger safety, inflatable seatbelts.  The inflatable seat belts, along with a whole suite of safety technology, is appearing in a select group of 2015 Ford vehicles such as the Explorer, Fusion, and F-150.  The purpose of these new seat belts is to properly distribute the forces that are impacted on a passenger during the event of a car crash.  The inflatable seat belts look and work just like a normal seat belt, unless in the event of a crash in which they will deploy.

Ford will be selling this technology and wants to increase the awareness of passenger safety. Bill Coughlin, the President and CEO of Ford Global Technologies, said, “In this case, the wider adoption of inflatable safety belts has the potential to make travel safer and help mitigate passenger injuries – especially among children and the elderly.”

Sanderson Ford is not only concerned with the safety of their customers, but the safety of all.

Ford’s Random Acts of Fusion

Ford is asking you to give Random Acts of Fusion a try.  The automaker has enlisted Ryan Seacrest, Joel McHale, and Kate Micucci in a social consumer campaign to help fans experience the redesigned 2013 Fusion.  In one of the first Random Acts of Fusion, Ford is giving you the opportunity to drive the sedan for a day while a film crew documents your adventure with the new Fusion.

To enter the contest, visit http://randomactsoffusion.com.  Next, describe the adventure, including your destination, you would take with the 2013 Fusion in 300 characters or less.  A judging panel will consider the sentimental value, humor, thoughtfulness, and creativity of each adventure and select five winners.  If you win, you get to select one guest to fly with you to your destination for three days and four nights.  On one of those days, you will get to drive the 2013 around while being filmed.  Ford will then edit the footage from each of the five winners into one documentary. The contest ends September 17, 2012.

Another Random Act of Fusion includes placing 100 Fusions at various locations in the U.S. throughout the summer.  The cars will be hidden, and finding one will result in a prize, such as free coffee and food.  More events and activities can be found on the Random Acts of Fusion website.

New Ford Fusion Named Best in Show at NAIAS

The North American International Auto Show is always a place where automakers go to show off their most impressive new designs, far-out concepts, and advancements in technology.  With so much competition, it can be hard to impress.  However, Ford didn’t seem to have this problem at the 2012 show last week, thanks to the debut of the redesigned 2013 Fusion.  In fact, the new sedan was named “Best in Show” by AutoWeek.

Even AutoWeek was taken aback by their decision to choose an everyday sedan.  According to Editor Wes Raynal, “It’s very rare for a midsize sedan to win Best in Show. I think it’s the first of a lot of awards the Fusion is going to win this year.” And so far, he’s right.  The new Fusion also received EyesOn Design recognition from the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology during the show.

Aside from its sleek new design, other features that had onlookers craving more include impressive fuel economy predictions, thanks to EcoBoost technology and a hybrid model, Ford’s new Lane-Keeping System, adaptive cruise control, active park assist, and Ford’s BLIS with cross-traffic alert.  Even long-time Chief Creative Officer J Mays is excited, stating that “I’ve been with the company for 13 years and I can truly say this is the best car ever to come out of the design and engineering center in Dearborn. We are delighted for the entire global design team, because this really was a global effort.”
