Ford Expedition Production to Increase at Kentucky Plant

2018 Ford Expedition

Last month, Ford announced that it planned to boost Ford Expedition production at its Kentucky Truck Plant; Ford will also boost production of the Lincoln Navigator for its luxury brand.

This is no small production boost either. Production of the Expedition and its luxury companion will jump up 25%, marking a $25 million investment in the Kentucky plant. This raises the total amount of money that Ford has pledged to the Kentucky Truck Plant up to a whopping $925 million.

So why this increase? Simply because Ford has designed an amazing product that dealers just keep selling out of. We can’t keep up with the demand—so when you do see a Ford Expedition on our lot, you’ll want to act fast, or you may have to wait a little longer for the next batch to arrive.

“The response from customers regarding our new full-size SUVs has been exceptional,” explained Joe Hinrichs, president of global operations. “Using a combination of Ford’s advanced manufacturing and American hard work and ingenuity, we’ll deliver more high-quality Lincoln Navigators and Ford Expeditions to customers than originally planned.”

The other $900 million that Ford has poured into this plant have paid for 400 robots to improve speed and safety at the factory, as well a data analytics hub for meeting goals and a 3D printer to produce parts better, faster, and more cheaply.

2015 Ford Expedition Serves as Official Vehicle for Pet Adoption Tour

Every good tour needs a good tour vehicle. For FIDO Friendly’s sixth annual Get Your Licks on Route 66® pet adoption tour, the 2015 Ford Expedition is the perfect solution.

The all-new full-size SUV is able to house tour founders Greg and Susan Sims, their two adopted dogs, donations from pet product companies, and one large spin wheel for prizes.

“We are thrilled once again to be able to tour the Mother Road and help bring awareness to the plight of homeless pets,” said Susan Sims who also serves as publisher of FIDO Friendly magazine. “With Ford providing us a new 2015 Expedition, our two rescue hounds – Jake and Junior – are along for the ride. Local doggie daycare centers host our boys while we work the event. At the end of the day, we pick up two tired and happy dogs, then start all over the next day.”

The Expedition will carry the Sims as they travel the 2,400 miles of Route 66, making stops in 17 different locations to host adoption events along the way.

The tour, which began Sept. 12 in Los Angeles, is scheduled to conclude its sixth year on Oct. 19 in Kansas City, Kansas. Since its inception, the tour has helped over 2,000 animals find loving homes.

Danica McKellar – actress, best-selling author, and avid animal enthusiast – is this year’s official spokeswoman for the tour.

Hmm… Maybe we at Sanderson Ford should do our part and adopt an official pet for the dealership.
