Ford Helps Deliver Food Around New York City

There are many organizations throughout the United States that help those that are less fortunate.  These philanthropic organizations do great things for individuals in need.  One such organization, located in New York City, has teamed up with Ford to deliver food to those that are too sick to shop or cook food for themselves.  The organization, known as God’s Love We Deliver, prepares and delivers over 5,000 meals every weekday.  Ford helps deliver the food through the company’s use of their fleet of the Ford Econoline vans and a Ford Transit Connect Mobile Food Pantry.

David Ludwigson, the chief development officer of God’s Love We Deliver, said “We’re the end of the road, the final safety net for our clients.  Without us they would not have food, and without organizations like Ford, we couldn’t do what we do.”

These services are provided for free and they are just not any type of free meals.  The organization has a team of dietitians who work to provide meals that are tailored to the medical needs of each client.

We think organizations like these do amazing things!  If you are looking to start up something like this yourself, or already have an organization going but need some form of transportation, then visit us at Sanderson Ford!  We have a great selection of both Ford Econoline vans and Ford Transit Connects!

Sanderson Ford Presents Jennifer Longdon with an All-New Ford Transit Connect

Ford Transit Connect

Jennifer Longdon has been paralyzed since 2004, when an unidentified gunman fired five shots at the truck she was riding in with her fiancé David Rueckert.  David was left blind and Jennifer’s spinal cord was severed, paralyzing her from the chest down.  But Jennifer hasn’t allowed this life-changing injury to stop her life.  She now works as a realtor, specializing in helping people with physical limitations find homes that meet their needs.  She also competes in half marathons and was named one of the ten most inspiring women by the Arizona Republic.

Not long ago, Sanderson Ford’s owners David and Sue Kimmerle learned of Jennifer’s story and how the 2001 specially equipped van she owned was falling apart.  The van was especially dangerous to Jennifer, who cannot regulate her own body temperature, because of a failing air conditioning unit.  This is when the Kimmerle’s decided show their admiration for Jennifer and her inspiring story by donating a brand new Ford Transit Connect to her.

“I wish we could help everyone in need – obviously this is impossible, but when
I heard about Jennifer and her quest to create more inclusion for people with disabilities and work towards finding a cure for spinal cord injury, we were all in,” David said.

The Transit Connect was given to Jennifer on May 23, 2013 at Sanderson Ford.  The donated vehicle is a 2012 Ford Transit Connect XLT Premium Wagon with additional mobility equipment to help Jennifer, such as hand controls, a Speedy Lift wheel chair, and driver side rear power door.
