Sanderson Ford and Roush Performance Team Up To Raise Money For Military Assistance Mission

Sanderson Ford is at it again and this time, they are teaming up with Roush Performance for a double dose of American muscle in the form of the “Jack Roush Tribute” Mustang.  To be sold at the Barret-Jackson Auction, this Mustang has a very special purpose.

With the final auction price totaling to $175,000, not only will the proud owner have the 50th Anniversary Mustang AND the 30th Anniversary of Jack Roush’s Champion Motorcraft Mustang all in one, but 100% of the proceeds will be going to benefit the Military Assistance Mission (MAM).  MAM is an organization that “serves local Arizona military, their families, and wounded heroes with financial and morale aide”, as stated by the MAM CEO, Margy Bons.

Margy Bons started MAM in honor of her son, Michael Adam Marzano, who fought and died for our country in Iraq.

The 2015 Ford Mustang was donated by Sanderson Ford and made into what it is by the Roush Performance team.  With a Phase 2 Roush-charged 5.0-liter V8 power plant that boasts an incredible 727hp, courtesy of Roush Performance’s R2300 TVS supercharger, this Mustang has more horsepower per liter than any other American muscle care on the market.

And the fun doesn’t stop there!  The white exterior keeps it classy while the red interior gives it a dangerous feel.  Want to not only be the envy of all of your friends, but also help a great cause?  You’ve come to the right place!

Ford Auctions Off Ford Mustang Apollo Edition

In July of this year, we got some incredible views of Pluto. Now, Ford is making its own contribution to the final frontier with the Ford Mustang Apollo Edition.

According to a press release from Ford, the American Automaker created the Ford Mustang Apollo Edition to celebrate the Apollo Moon Missions.

The Mustang has been designed to resemble the rockets that carried the brave astronauts out into the vast unknown. The interior also reflects the spirit of innovation, with unique amenities and features inside.

The modifications were performed by MAD Industries, led by designer Chris Magnum.

This one-of-a-kind Mustang was auctioned off at the Gathering of Eagles Charity event on July 23. All proceeds benefit the Experimental Aircraft Associations youth program, the Young Eagles.

Ford has auctioned off an exclusive Mustang to support the Young Eagles for eight years in a row now.

“Ford has been a committed sponsor of EAA and AirVenture for more than 15 years – bringing incredible value to those who make Oshkosh the highlight of their aviation year,” said Jack Pelton, EAA chairman of the board, in the press release. “With its eighth Mustang donation, Ford continues to excite with its specialty vehicles, which reflect the depth of the company’s commitment and which allow EAA to provide support to its valuable programs and dedicated members in helping us grow the next generation of aviators.”

Here at Sanderson Ford, it makes us proud to represent an automaker so dedicated to the future of aviation.

Mustang Ranked Higher Than Batman and Superman in Most Popular Passwords

It’s always amusing (and slightly worrying) to see the awful kinds of passwords people choose to protect themselves. Passwords should be difficult to guess and, ideally, completely random.

Instead, many people still resort to passwords based on simple patterns on the keyboard, like “123456” and “qwerty,” their favorite sports team, or just generic things they like.

Every year, SplashData releases a list of the 25 most common passwords found on the Internet, which, by nature of having been found, makes them the 25 worst passwords.

This year’s list features the usual nonsense at the top. Various combinations of the numbers 1-9 (in order!) and passwords like “password” and “baseball.” What caught our eye at Sanderson Ford was the #16 worst password: “mustang.”

Now, don’t get us wrong, the Mustang is a great car, but it doesn’t make for a great password. But we have to admit we’re somewhat pleased that so many people like the car that they’d think of it when protecting their data—even before thinking of iconic superheroes like Superman and Batman, which were ranked 21st and 24th, respectively.

Having said that, we here at Sanderson Ford would like to implore you to please stop using “mustang” as a password. Your privacy is important!

Ford Has No Plans for Aluminum Cars

Despite the wild success of Ford’s new aluminum F-150, the automaker says it currently has no plans to expand its production of aluminum cars. While aluminum has the ability to significantly increase fuel efficiency, the benefits just don’t outweigh the costs for models outside of the F-150.

“One of the big benefits you get from lightweighting on trucks is you give customers more capability that they want,” Ford America President Joseph Hinrichs explained to digitaltrends.com.

“You can tow more, you can haul more, you can do more of those things by taking the weight out. You don’t get those same benefits to a consumer on a car side,” he continued. “So truck buyers will pay for more capability. Car buyers will pay for better fuel economy, but there’s other ways to get fuel economy in a car.”

Ford says that building the F-150 with an aluminum construction also made sense because of the sheer volume of F-150 units sold. Aluminum isn’t cheap, but America’s best-selling vehicle brings in enough sales to help mitigate the high cost of military-grade alloys. No other vehicle in Ford’s lineup (or any lineup for that matter) brings in the kind of sales that the F-150 does.

For now, Ford’s EcoBoost engines, active grille shutter technology, and aerodynamic designs add to its cars’ efficiency enough to keep them competitive. Additionally, Ford has used aluminum parts on the newest Mustang’s fender and hood – so the automaker isn’t ruling out aluminum altogether.

Hinrichs points out that if the industry finds a way to reduce costs associated with aluminum construction, we’ll eventually see more vehicles using the lightweight material.

Carroll Shelby Step Aside: Introducing the 2015 Mustang King Cobra

If you’re a car enthusiast then there’s no question you get a little excited every time you hear the word “Cobra”. Representing the epitome of auto-tuning, the Cobra models boast performance and styling like no other cars on the road. So when Ford announces they’ll be introducing a new “King Cobra,” you know you’re in for something incredible.

According to Ford, the new 2015 Mustang King Cobra features an unparalleled parts package; modifying drag, handling, and the power source under the hood. That means a completely redesigned Mustang, built for both the street and the drag-strip.

“At Ford Racing, we like to push cars to their absolute limit,” said Jamie Allison, director, Ford Racing. “This is something we have been doing for 113 years and why we were so excited to get our hands on the all-new, 2015 Mustang.”

Harkening back to the first King Cobra model built by Carroll Shelby in 1963, the 2015 King Cobra is an engineering marvel. A 2.3-liter Twin Vortices Series supercharger adds incredible power, coming with an additional intake manifold, fuel-injectors, and an intercooler system, among other things. The suspension can be completely modified, as well as the frame and exterior shell.

New Ford Performance Heritage Video Hints at Something Big

Ford fans, get hyped. Our favorite automaker has just launched the first in a series of five videos titled Ford performance heritage, which covers some great images of racers over the years and a series of teaser images that you don’t want to miss.

One of those images points to November 17, 2014, the day of the Los Angeles Auto Show, with a font only the most hardcore fans will recognize: that of the leaked GT350 logo uncovered by Mustang6g.com back in August.

Could it be a new Shelby? The odds are very good. The video showed an Alcantara steering wheel, a “Powered by Ford” valve cover, aluminum pedals, sticky tires, a honeycomb grille, and a big round exhaust tip. We’ve no doubt Ford intends to unveil a performance-oriented car, and given automakers’ propensity to make big plans for major international auto shows, it’ll probably be a special one.

We couldn’t be more excited here at Sanderson Ford!

The Ford ICON50 Campaign Captures the Spirit of Adventure

A 50th birthday is a momentous occasion, marking half a century of accomplishments. You’re probably wondering, so whose birthday is it? It’s the iconic Mustang’s! That’s why the Ford ICON50 Campaign is being launched, in order to celebrate the 50 years of influence the Mustang has had.

Ford can change that.

“For five decades, Mustang has represented some of the best of American popular culture, inspiring a feeling of freedom, independence and adventure,” said Jim Farley, Ford executive VP of Marketing, Sales and Service. “We are excited to celebrate the iconic Mustang and encourage fans to embrace its spirit of adventure and try new cultural experiences.”
