For the second year running, Ford has taken two of the three most coveted awards in the automotive industry. The Bronco SUV was named the 2022 North American Utility of the Year while the Maverick pickup was named the 2022 North American Truck of the Year.

The winners of the annual North American Car, Utility, and Truck of the Year™ awards, which last year recognized the F-150 and Mustang Mach-E, are typically announced each year at the Detroit Auto Show. They are selected by a panel of over 50 jurors assessing the best new vehicles of the year based on design, safety, driver satisfaction, innovation, and overall value.

This year, 36 vehicles made the initial list of eligible vehicles before they were narrowed down to 23 semi-finalists, and then nine finalists. Only three vehicles could go home with an award, though, and it’s an impressive feat that Ford managed to snatch two of those twice once again, after doing the same last year.

The all-new Ford Bronco represents the launch of an outdoor brand of exclusive 4×4 vehicles with major off-road capability, while the all-new Maverick is an affordable, full-hybrid pickup truck that gets 42 mpg in the city.[1] With credentials like that, it’s no surprise they impressed the jurors.
