Tips for Limiting Data Usage on the Road

Tips For Limiting Data Usage on the Road | Sanderson Ford | Glendale, AZ

If you’re hitting the road this summer for work, play, or both, you’ll want to stay on top of how much data you’re using to avoid an unexpected bill. Limiting data usage on the road isn’t too tough if you follow some steps — and it’s even easier if you have a newer Ford with built-in connectivity.

Plan ahead

A great way to cut down on data is to download essentials before you leave the comfort of Wi-Fi. If you plan on listening to music, audiobooks, or podcasts, download them to your device rather than stream them. You can also minimize data by downloading maps to your phone and using them offline.

Tweak your phone’s settings

Your smartphone will use data even when you’re not using it depending on your settings. There are several things you can do to cut down on data usage, up to and including disabling background refreshing, turning off push notifications, and preventing apps that use a lot of data from downloading or uploading when not connected to Wi-Fi.

Cover your bases with FordPass Connect™

Want reliable, consistent Wi-Fi on the go? Newer Ford vehicles feature a built-in modem as part of FordPass Connect™, which allows you to connect up to 10 devices to a Wi-Fi hotspot. Plans are available through AT&T, and you can use the FordPass™ App to easily monitor data usage as you go.

Need to prep your vehicle for a summer road trip? Be sure to schedule a service appointment at Sanderson Ford in Glendale, Arizona, and we’ll get you moving.
