2015 Ford Mustang Anniversary Edition

2015 represents the 50th anniversary for the Ford Mustang, an enduring icon of American muscle. The classic sports car is just as relevant and viable as it was 50 years ago, even though it is now in its sixth generation of design.

To celebrate, Ford is making an Anniversary Edition Mustang, but only producing1,964 of them (to commemorate the year that production first began on the Mustang). The limited edition model will feature a powerful 5.0-liter V-8 engine. You can get it in either 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic. One of the coolest options is the availability to select the car in Wimbledon White, the color of the first Mustang.

The most interesting aspect to this anniversary celebration is that many of those who head the company are in line for the special edition. Bill Ford, grandson of Henry Ford, has already claimed number one. Mark Fields, the CEO, will also get one.

You know you are doing business with a healthy company when the top brass clamor for the product as much you do! Come to Sanderson Ford today to check out some of the company’s other great vehicles, as well as the iconic pony car!

The 2015 Ford Mustang Will Feature a Knee Airbag

knee airbag

Of all the things the 2015 Ford Mustang will do, safety is the top priority for Ford’s newest model of America’s favorite muscle car.  We’ve heard many tidbits leaked about what the new Mustang will do, including unbelievable handling and a great design, but the most recent news has us really excited for the future of this car.  An innovative new glovebox airbag will prevent passengers from knee injuries in a crash.

All of the 2015 Ford Mustang’s will have the active knee airbag as a standard feature, plus, it will be the first vehicle among Ford’s incredible lineup that will receive the knee airbag system.  This knee airbag system is 65% lighter than a traditional airbag and uses up to a 75% smaller inflator.  The airbag is virtually undetectable when you look at the glovebox door.

We are not sure if the knee airbag will show up in other Ford vehicles, but at Sanderson Ford, we think it’s a great idea, so why not?  And if you want to take a look at the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang, then visit our showroom today!

2015 Ford Mustang at Sprint CupIf you watch the Quicken Loans 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup located at Michigan International Speedway on Sunday, then you will get to watch the impressive speed and handling of the new 2015 Ford Mustang GT.  Ford has just named it as the official pace car for the race.  With a 5.0-liter V8 engine that produces over 420 horsepower and more than 390 lb.-ft. of torque, this is a great choice.

Ford could not be happier to have the new Mustang GT in the race. This event is a showcase for the auto industry and enthusiasts alike. People get to see the new cars in action and see what they can really do in person.  This new generation features a sleeker design, a lower and wider body, a bolder dual grille, LED taillights, integral-link independent rear suspension, and much more.

Ford Mustang Convertible to be Raffled Off for Charity

It’s no secret that the 50th anniversary of the Ford Mustang was a huge deal for the automaker and Americans alike, and Ford is continuing to ride the success of the Mustang after 50 years.  Ford revealed the 50th anniversary special-edition Mustang at the New York Auto Show only a few short weeks ago and 1,964 special-editions will be made.  The Blue Oval just announced they will be building a 50th anniversary special-edition Ford Mustang Convertible that they will be raffling off for charity!

Only one special-edition Ford Mustang Convertible will be made, but it will hold many of the features the fixed-roof special-edition does, including the chrome trim, white paint job, aluminum dashboard, contrast stitching, and so on.  A special performance package will also be added, which will include a 5.0-liter V8 engine with 6-speed manual transmission, as well as 420 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque.

The convertible won’t be auctioned off until August 16th on Mustang Alley in Ferndale, Michigan, but at Sanderson Ford, we recommend you buy raffle tickets today!  There are a limited number and are being sold at $20 apiece, so don’t delay!  All proceeds are going to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society!

Wheels Optional?

In response to the title: not exactly.  At Sanderson Ford, we do not recommend attempting what is shown in the below video, but it does make us scratch our heads in wonderment.  Clearly there is something wrong when you first lay your eyes on the images and we don’t need to tell you what.

What we should tell you before you watch the video however is that this car is not broken down on the side of the highway or sitting in a junkyard.  Nope, it’s just you average Ford Mustang cruising down the highway at 60+ mph speeds with only 3 wheels.

Yes, you read it right; only 3 wheels.

Taking place somewhere in Texas, this 3 wheel Mustang has made us wonder why the driver thinks wheels are optional.  Clearly that isn’t good for any part of the car, nor can it be a very comfortable ride.

As we already stated, we 100% advise against driving like this, no matter what vehicle you are sporting.  If you need your tires checked, rotated, or need new tires all together, contact us at Sanderson Ford to see what we can do for you!

2015 Ford Mustang Convertible On Top of the World

2015 Ford Mustang convertible

As we posted in a previous blog, Ford intended to recreate the scene from the 1964 World’s Fair with the Mustang convertible atop the Empire State Building in New York City.  And 50 years later, just that has happened.  The 2015 Ford Mustang convertible now sits proudly on the observation deck of the Empire State Building, with a clear view of the Big Apple.

You would have never guessed that this strikingly yellow beauty had to actually be cut apart to be taken up the only freight elevator in the Empire State Building.  A company based in Michigan split the Mustang into parts that would fit on the elevator.  They built a mockup of the elevator, and then proceeded to make cuts on another pre-production Mustang convertible.

From the videos below, you can see how precise everything had to be to ensure this historical repeat.  At Sanderson Ford, we are also able to tell that their efforts weren’t wasted!  The 2015 Ford Mustang convertible looks beautiful overlooking Manhattan!

2015 Ford Mustang Convertible to Recreate a Scene from 1964

We have seen some great things out of the Ford Mustang over the years, but one of the most iconic moments will always be when the 1965 Ford Mustang convertible prototype sat atop the Empire State Building during the 1964 World’s Fair in New York.

Ford announced that they will be doing the very same thing for the 50th anniversary of the classic muscle car.  Mark Fields, the Ford chief operating officer stated “New York is one of the greatest cities in the world, and it’s the place where the Ford Mustang story began 50 years ago.  We’re thrilled to be visiting the architectural landmark that has been the heart of the Manhattan skyline for 83 years with the newest generation of the car that is the soul of Ford Motor Company.”

The only way to get the 2015 Ford Mustang convertible up to the top of the Empire State Building is the same way they did it in 1964: by physically slicing the car into pieces and taking it up the elevator.  Ford engineers have figured out exactly where to make the cuts and once they get it to the top of 86th-floor observatory, they will only have 6 hours to put it back together.

“It is a privilege to celebrate the new Ford Mustang, to bring together our two iconic brands, and to make new history with Ford.  The Empire State Building and Ford Mustang are both historic innovators – today, as in the past,” said Empire State Realty Trust Chairman, President and CEO Anthony E. Malkin.

At Sanderson Ford, we can’t wait to see the 2015 Ford Mustang convertible atop one of the most well-known buildings in NYC.  If you are interested in visiting the Mustang convertible, it will be available for viewing from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. April 16-17.

The Ford Mustang Helps the Pinball Machine Get on the Comeback Trail

2014 Ford MustangEven though these classic arcade games are just that, classics, the pinball machine might be on its way back anyway.  Contrary to popular belief, pinball machines are still being made today, but are mostly being sold to individual buyers and different arcade distributors.  Chicago-based Stern Pinball has teamed up with Ford to create a pinball machine featuring the 50th anniversary Ford Mustang.

This pinball machine will come with all kinds of bells and whistles, as well as three different variations of the machine to choose from.  The pro-level pinball machine, which is meant for arcades and the like, will be selling for $5,000.  Depending on where you shoot the ball, you could be drag racing, racing the Mustang, and so much more.

The upgraded version will be made especially for pinball machine collectors and the third variation will be an autographed special addition.  Prices for these options have yet to be announced, but we know they will be worth it.

At Sanderson Ford, we are definitely ready to take this wild ride.  Whether you are a pinball machine enthusiast or not, you have to admit, a pinball machine featuring the 50th anniversary Ford Mustang is pretty ingenious!

Shelby GT350 Mustang Production to End in 2014

Shelby Ford MustangEyeing the Shelby GT350 Mustang? You better get it now while you still can! The model will end production at the end of 2013, but for good reason – Shelby needs time to start preparing for the 2015 Mustang.

The Shelby GT350 is a special edition version of the Mustang that was re-introduced in 2010. The current model is based on the original 1965 Shelby GT350 and features racing stripes, a racing suspension, sport-tuned brakes, and 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels. The model can also go from 0-60 mph in just 3.7 seconds.

According to John Luft, president of Shelby America, the GT350’s short run was always part of the plan. He stated, “The model’s limited production has long been part of its appeal. When this car was unveiled, we promised that the modern version of the Shelby GT350 would be available for a limited run. This decision was made to preserve the Shelby American built GT350’s collectability and value. We’ve been preparing for this day since Shelby American launched this in 2010.”

While Shelby will only accept orders on the GT350 through December 31, 2013, several other Shelby Mustang models will continue, including the Shelby GTS, GT500 Super Snake, and Shelby 1000. In addition, according to Luft, Shelby is “planning our next ultimate performance Shelby model.”
