Ford Trucks Win Three Gold Hitch Awards

2017 Ford F-150 Raptor

For 40 years now, Ford has dominated as America’s favorite brand of truck, which makes it unsurprising that the 2017 Ford F-150 and F-150 Raptor earned three of the top five prizes at this year’s Gold Hitch Awards.

The Fast Lane Truck performed some rigorous high-altitude performance and towing tests in Utah and Colorado to determine the winners of its Gold Hitch Awards. The awards include the following categories for trucks: mid-size, half-ton, heavy-duty, off-road, and best overall.

The 2017 Ford F-150 came away as the top half-ton truck along with the best performing truck overall. As for the off-duty truck award, that went to the all-new 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor. “The 2017 Ford F-150 is the best towing half-ton truck this year,” said Andre Smirnov, editor, TFLtruck.com. “The overall versatility, towing performance, and choice of available powertrains and technology features of the entire 2017 F-150 lineup elevated the F-150 above all others.”

Testers were impressed with the F-150’s acceleration, incredible towing power, and efficiency, even while towing. As for the F-150 Raptor, it earned high praises for its great combination of power, speed, and standard off-road abilities that make it unlike any other truck currently available.

‘Forza Motorsport 6’ Accidentally Leaks 2017 Ford Raptor Stats Way Early

It’s not uncommon for new, previously unseen vehicles to be caught test driving, resulting in a widespread internet leak of exclusive photographs. However, you wouldn’t expect that a vehicle’s stats would be spoiled by a video game.

And yet, it appears that Forza Motorsport 6, an Xbox One title, has revealed top-secret information about the 2017 Ford Raptor, far before its official release.

According to Forza 6, the 2017 Raptor will produce 450 horsepower and 440 pound feet of torque, will weigh about 5,700 pounds, and will have a front-to-rear weight distribution of 57:43.

When asked about the matter, Ford has simply said that it does not comment on future models, neither confirming nor denying these 2017 Ford Raptor stats. With the upcoming Raptor’s debut so far in the future, it could be more than a year before we know.

If Ford is keeping mum about it, then perhaps only time will tell. What do you think? Do those numbers sound realistic for the 2017 Raptor? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
