With Ford Intelligent Backup Power, you can turn the all-electric F-150 Lightning into a generator that powers your home in an outage.

Ford Intelligent Backup Power is available with the help of Sunrun, who makes the Home Integration System that works with the 80-amp Ford Charge Station Pro. Once installed, these components allow the F-150 Lightning to sense when there’s a power outage and reverse the flow of power.

When the power is out, the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning offers enough output to power your home for up to three days.[1] With rationing — or with the power provided by Sunrun’s available solar energy system — you can power a home for up to 10 days.

The Ford F-150 Lightning has finally been revealed — and it delivers power, efficiency, and capability that’ll impress even the most discerning drivers.

This beastly electrified pickup boasts standard 4×4, a rear independent suspension, and dual in-board motors that enable it to deliver 563 horsepower and 775 lb-ft of torque, along with a projected 300 miles of range. With all of that power, the F-150 Lightning is expected to achieve a 0-60 time between 4 and 5 seconds.

But the F-150 Lightning is more than just quick. Thanks to its new heavy-duty steel frame, this innovative truck is estimated to tow around 10,000 pounds when equipped with the Max Trailer Tow Package. Its sturdy frame also enables it to offer a payload capacity of around 2,000 pounds.

And if you opt for the Ford Intelligent Backup Power feature, you’ll have 9.6 kilowatts of power at your fingertips, which you can use to power everything from lights and appliances to RVs and tools. Its electrified powertrain also frees up space under the hood for additional storage space – its handy frunk offers 14.1 cubic feet of room. That’s enough to store two sets of golf clubs or 400 pounds of payload.
