Ford is ramping up its safety features with the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E and the 2021 Ford F-150, offering a new hands-free driving system. Available Active Drive Assist is scheduled to arrive in the third quarter of 2021, offering advanced and real-time safety features that allow for semi-autonomous driving. On select divided highways, you’ll be able to drive completely hands-free, helping you enjoy the experience more.
The intelligent Active Drive Assist uses computer, camera, and radar systems to let you drive in hands-free driving zones. Ford will offer the technology on over 100,000 miles of North American roads to start with plans to expand its Hands-Free Zones in the future.
“As breakthroughs in new technology allow us to help reduce the stress of long highway drives, it’s important to make sure these capabilities can be enjoyed by the largest spread of people possible,” said Hau Thai-Tang, the chief product platform and operations officer at Ford Motor Company. “Active Drive Assist can help improve the driving experience while ensuring people remain aware and fully in control.”
At the outset, Active Drive Assist will be available on the 2021 Ford F-150 and all-new Mustang Mach-E. If you get a new F-150 when it launches at Sanderson Ford, you’ll be able to get what you’ll need to use the technology down the line in the Ford Co-Pilot360™ Active 2.0 Prep Package. With the Mustang Mach-E, the feature will be standard with the California Route 1 and Premium trims. Later versions of both will have the hardware baked in, and you’ll only need to pay to activate the software for three years.
